Troy Regier won the Pikes Peak 25 over Kenny Hamilton, Rick Veenstra, Mike Pickard, and Richie Castor. 11 cars finished the 25 lap event. Only incident of the day was Ricky Otts. He broke a RF hub and hit the wall in turn three heavily damaging his car. Regier led all the way but was heavily challenged by Kenny Hamilton as they raced through traffic. Yellow flag with nine to go and Regier was able to pull away to a 10 car length victory, Hamilton was second about a straight away ahead of third place Veenstra. Good clean show and it was announced the SRL will return in 2002. On to Dodge City for Wednesday night.

NEW Troy Regier on a Rocky Mountain high

The Supermodified Racing League made its seventh stop of the 2001 season at Pikes Peak International Raceway on Friday. Qualifying for the Raddison Indy 200 was held on the 1-mile banked "D" shaped oval. Pikes Peak International Raceway is one the fastest tracks the SRL will visit this season. After two quick practice sessions, 2000 SRL Champion Troy Regier set Quick Time with a 23.600 sec. lap and a two Lap average speed of 152.54 mph.
